My various industry experience includes: education, sport, tourism, aviation, property, and horticulture with roles in research, marketing, management, leadership, and project management where I have been able to combine my practical and intellectual capabilities. Empowering people to believe in themselves and achieve their potential has given my life a ‘real’ purpose. In 2020, I completed a doctorate which investigated the barriers and enablers of women working in sport management in Aotearoa - New Zealand. My drive to understand the WHY? led me to this topic, and the answers I found are what I wish to convey during the 2022 IWG Conference.
This talk will reveal the findings of an intergenerational study into the lack of diverse representation in sport and identify some of the barriers that women face to progress. You’ll leave with a practical understanding of how sport management can become more inclusive.
