Megan Compain

Founder of EightyOneX
New Zealand

Megan is the founder of EightyOneX, a creative agency with a focus on sport partnerships, and a former professional basketball player, having been the first, and still only, New Zealand woman to play in the WNBA.

After 15 years working globally for adidas and New Zealand Rugby, she moved agency side and reignited her passion for women in sport, with the aspiration to leave a better platform for young female athletes to be seen and valued by the world.

This has been seen recently through work initiated by Sport New Zealand to raise the value and visibility for all female athletes in a multi-sport and multi-year campaign called “It’s Time”, taking advantage of the spot light on women in sport through New Zealand hosting 4 major World Cup events in cricket, rugby, IWG and football.

Megan also sits on the Board of Basketball New Zealand, is a commentator on Sky Sport for both men’s and women’s national basketball leagues, and was instrumental in establishing the new and first ever professional women’s competition that achieved pay equity with their male counterparts. Putting her money where her mouth is, Megan is a co-owner of the inaugural Tauihi Champions, the Tokomanawa Queens.
