Dr Lombe Mwambwa is a researcher, teacher, and practitioner who focuses on inequalities in sport and the use of sport to address societal inequalities. Since 2004, she has worked in sport and sport for development initiatives with a focus on governance of sport and in sport for development organisations in Southern Africa and in international contexts. She serves on the International Safeguarding Children in Sport Initiative (ISCSI), the IOC Safeguarding Officer Course Academic Advisory Board, and the Football Rising Board of Trustees. Dr Mwambwa has served as Board Chair of the Sport for Social Change Network (SSCN SA) and Executive Director of the National Organisation for Women in Sport Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR) in Zambia. Her doctoral research completed at the University of Chichester, UK examined the experiences of women sport leaders within the African Union Sports Council. She is an Alum of the University of Zambia and the Southern African Regional Centre for Women's Law at University of Zimbabwe. She teaches in the Department of Education at the University of Zambia. Dr Mwambwa has experience supporting leadership development and safeguarding initiatives in sport organisations across Africa, Asia and Europe.
