Linda Low has built a 20-year professional career helping people to get better. A former athlete, who became a L3 track coach, she quickly recognized that the key to enhancing athletes’ performances was to develop better coaches, and better coaching systems. In 2014 Linda was recognised for this work through the award of the “UK Coach Developer of the Year Award”. Core to Linda’s work has been the emphasis that she places on people and process, both of which are at the heart of coaching success.
As the sport Scotland National Program Manager for Coaching Programs, she led the implementation of coach development workforce across Scotland, and she was part of the technical and steering committees for the implementation of the UK Coaching Certificate. As well as leading the training for the coaching workforce development team, she also led the women’s coach mentoring program, trained mentors, mentored coaches and provided cross sport discussion to provide development and support.
Linda is programme manager for the Women In Sports High Performance Programme (WISH) which aims to increase the number of women coaches at the Olympic Games. She works with coaches and organisations across continents and time zones meaning zoom, facetime, skype, WhatsApp and the airlines are all familiar support tools that she has utilised! Linda believes that leadership skills are key to coaches and those involved in the development of sport and delivers on the women’s leadership programmes around the world.
