I am a Sport NZ Ihi Aotearoa Graduate, currently in my second year of the Graduate Programme. I spent my first year of the programme based in the Active Recreation team at Sport NZ, where I found my passion for advocating for the strengths and value that young people (particularly kōhine and wāhine) bring to the play, recreation and sport sector. I am currently enjoying my first placement in the Recreation, Sports and Events Unit at Christchurch City Council, where I am learning about effective community engagement. I am passionate about the role that physical activity plays in supporting wellbeing, particularly when individuals can choose how they participate.
