Kirsty Burrows is IOC Safe Sport Senior Manager, leading the IOC's newly established Safe Sport Unit (encompassing the fields of safeguarding and mental health), whilst concurrently undertaking her PhD on sport and human rights with Canterbury Christ Church University. Prior to her position with the IOC, she was Managing Director of Sports Rights Solutions and expert safeguarding consultant to a number of international sports organisations including the IOC and the International Cricket Council. Her work has seen her at the forefront of the development of strategies and tools to embed holistic approaches to athlete welfare across the world of sport, including as author of the IOC Safeguarding Toolkit (2017) and co-author of the IOC Mental Health in Elite Athletes Toolkit (2021). Kirsty is also academic director of the IOC Certificate: Safeguarding Officer in Sport; Board Member of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport; and a member of the Council of Europe's Pool of European Experts in Safe Sport, alongside her favorite role - Mum to a fast-moving toddler.
