Professor Helen Parker (PhD). Independent Researcher.
Helen Parker is an independent researcher in exercise science, whose academic career spanned nearly 40 years. Her last role was Executive Dean of Health Sciences at Notre Dame Australia, managing courses in Biomedical Science, Physiotherapy, Health and Physical Education, Preventive Health, Sport and Recreation Management, and Exercise Science and Outdoor Education. She taught in motor skill development and learning, physical education pedagogy and physical activity and health. Her research focuses on children’s physical activity, skill development, and gender. She has published over 70 scientific papers and presented at many international and national conferences on her research. She has served on many sports, and health and physical education organizations and reviews, and coached at the community level. A passionate advocate for women in sport, coaching development, and health and physical education curriculum in Western Australia Helen became the first female on the Western Australian Football Commission. Her four young grandchildren keep her very fit and active.
