Passion for sports and equality showed up early in my life in a way of organizing inclusion-workshops in middle school as well as being captain of my youth soccer team. Growing up in Sweden, I began playing organized sports early in elementary school. Although I played mostly soccer, I have had the privilege of trying many different sports such as dance, rock climbing, and racing triathlons as an adult. Over the last eleven years, I have worked at King School, Stamford, CT, USA. My role has evolved from an assistant athletic trainer and girl-athlete liaison to my current role as the Director of Student-Athlete Health Services. My work includes providing rehabilitative services, acute management of athletic injuries, concussion management, as well as teaching health and wellness. I also organize educational events for the school community on topics such as nutrition, leadership, inclusion, and mental health.
This talk will demonstrate how King School strives to create new leaders and support its athletes. Examine their leadership strategies, and learn how to create safe spaces for students.
