Clare has a unique balance of experience in high performance sporting, performance pathways, community and sport for social impact environments in NSW, Australia and internationally and has worked with over 20 Olympic and Paralympic sports, including hockey for many years.
Clare has successfully developed strategic, cultural and operational projects, plans and practices with valued partners using evidence based and co-design principles that promote gender equality and inclusion using sport as the vehicle. In addition, Clare has delivered diversity and inclusion focused leadership development programs with the UK based organisation Moving Ahead that include unconscious bias, intersectionality, privilege and belonging based on adult learning principles.
In her role as President of Oceania Hockey, Clare works with a diverse and valued partnership to deliver Hook in4 Health, a program that aims to support communities in PNG and Vanuatu to live well, learn well and lead well through hockey. Increased physical activity, gender equity, inclusion, respectful relationships, health and well-being are central considerations of Hook in4 Health. In addition, co-design, partnership, capability building, sustainability and cultural considerations are essential to the project.
The strength of partnership between TeamUp, Oceania Hockey Federation, Cairns Hockey Aspire, Hockey Australia, Hockey PNG, Hockey Vanuatu, Family Planning NSW and their in- country service providers and Flinders University is a core asset. Outcomes of this program are directly linked to the United Nations Global Sustainable Development goals and the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Pacific relationship aims.
The programme is supported by the Oceania Hockey Federation and is focused on people at every level of the sport from administrators through to players, volunteers, coaches, trainers and officials.
